Diamond In The Dirt

You have to dig deep. You have to keep searching. Don't settle for what is easy. Don't allow the lazy mind to win. Follow your gut. It sounds contrived but you know when something isn't right. You feel it. Trust it. Keep believing there is more to be found. Don't settle for lukewarm. Give me red hot or ice cold, not that wishy washy middle ground. Push. Irk. Prod. Make waves. Waves allow other people to go surfing. When you keep digging you find gold, but remember all that glitters isn't gold.

Anger Never Works

The moment you get angry is the moment you lose your balance. Anger distorts your perspective. Anger makes up stories in your head. Anger gives your power away. Anger makes you more angry. No battle, argument, discussion ever is resolved through anger. Only when the anger subsides can there be a resolution, although often things that were said in anger still linger like a bad smell. You can't fight fire with fire. You can't protest for peace with anger. What you resist persists. What are we all so angry about anyway?

Hide And Seek

Whatever we identify with, we experience. Identity though is a choice. We choose what we believe in and then we decide what that means to us and how it is going to make us feel. Then we deny all knowledge of this as being our choice just so that we can go through the process of learning once again to remember who we really are. It's the ultimate cosmic game of hide and seek.

The Road To Nowhere

When Talking Heads sang 'we're on a road to nowhere' back in the 1980's, everyone danced along merrily. Since then lead singer David Byrne has galvanised his place in rock history but also proven his metal with regards to enlightening the human condition. Turns out when he sang those words back in the day, he actually meant it. What if he's right and there is no 'destination'? What if those people who say that it's all about the journey are right? What if you reach your destination and it still isn't enough? There is only one way that I know to beat the 'what ifs' and that is to try and remain as present as possible as often as possible....Read More

What Can We Do?

Barcelona, London, Paris, Nantes, Manchester. The attacks keep coming. The fear, the anger, the hurt, the pain and the suffering keeps on growing. In the aftermath of these evil attacks, political and religious leaders all over the world will offer their sincere condolences and make bold statements about staying strong and not letting fear win. And for a while this show of positivity and strength will make us feel a little better, but soon enough we come to realise that nothing has changed and nothing likely will. I don't want to go into depth regarding conspiracy theories of how the political and religious organisations and institutions may have a vested interest in maintaining the 'status quo'. What is most valuable...Read More

Showing Up

Eighty percent of life is showing up - Woody Allen That's all you need to do. Show up. Each and every day, just show up. Somedays you will be inspired. Somedays you will need inspiration.  Somedays you will be tired and weary, other days you will be filled with energy and motivation.  It doesn't really matter, so long as you are there. Fully. You have to be there fully and the only way to do that is to totally accept without judgement the particular state or experience that is right in front of you. So be tired but accept that tiredness without resistance or judgement, just be tired. Angry? Be that anger fully. Accept it, feel it. Don't push it...Read More
